Community Pantry, 11 Sep 2010

Cadets volunteered their Saturday to help the Community Pantry sort through the mountains of donated food stuffs. Director Sandy Jernagan welcomed the extra hands to tackle the tough job of sorting literally thousands of cans of donated items. "I've been trying to get through some of this stuff since May" said Ms Jernagen. Cadets unloaded bags of donations from a container and sorted them into like items, put them into boxes, and stacked them inside the Pantry. They enjoyed a nice hot lunch prepared by two of the cadets, of chili dogs and potato salad. Split into five teams they attacked their assignments with zeal and enthusiasm and finished with the satisfaction that they made a difference in their community.
