City of Hemet Veterans Day 2010

City of Hemet Veterans Day Ceremony

Gibbel Park, 11 Nov 2010

40 Tahquitz cadets and 10 NJROTC cadets from West Valley HS participated in the Veterans Day Ceremony in Gibbel Park. Carrying the 50 state flags in the opening ceremony, the cadets were commanded by c/ENS Carlos R. from West Valley. Reporting in at 0800, they proceeded to learn the flag carrying technique and commands and practiced marching onto the knoll behind the memorial. The ceremony began at 0900 and the impressive display of colors was accented by just the right amount of breeze to lift each flag so they waved proudly. Following the ceremony, the Armed and Unarmed drill teams did two performances each for the assembled crowds. Other cadets volunteered at the City of Hemet card and banner booth helping residents make cards to send to our troops overseas. The City of Hemet showed their appreciation in many ways but none was so welcome as the free lunch they gave us at the end.
