Basic Leadership Training (aka Mini Boot Camp)

Chaparral HS, Temecula, 1-3 Oct 2010

198 JROTC cadets reported for Basic Leadership Training this year from Corona HS, Paloma Valley HS, West Valley HS, Chaparral HS, Orange Glen HS, and 20 cadets from Tahquitz HS. They arrived on deck at 6pm with both feet and immediately were plunged into a world of impatient, screaming platoon commanders; senior cadets charged with caring and training new cadets. The training schedule kept them very busy starting each day with 0500 reveille and rigorous PT to wake them up. The highlights of the weekend were the uniform inspection conducted by USMC Drill Instructors, followed by drill and then a relaxing afternoon in the pool practicing survival techniques and basic swim strokes. A crowd of spectators cheered and applauded the graduates at the final ceremony when camp concluded on Sunday. Special recognition to cadet Nolan S. for receiving the aptitude ribbon and most improved cadet award.
